OKAY PEOPLE... THIS IS THE BOOK TO BUY FOR EC. I would not recommend ANY other book besides this one. I read 'The Diaper Free Baby' first and I've got to say that I was not at all impressed; it was filled with people's personal stories and quite frankly, filled with emotional/supportive crap I don't care about. This book tells you how to do it and it tells you in a VERY easy to grasp way. It leaves the 'supportive' and 'emotional' stuff in a separate section at the end, which I opted to skip. I've done LOADS of research on EC and after everything I've read, I'd say that this is the ONLY BOOK YOU NEED for EC.Product details

I have ALL of Andrea's books and I highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to know more about EC. I've bought a lot of books about infant pottying but this has got be my most favorite because it is written backwards. I didn't need words of encouragement when I started buying EC books. I was already decided that I wanted to give it a go that is why I appreciated how Andrea started with the procedure right away. The support group that you get to be a part of upon purchasing the book will also help a lot incase you face problems along the way.
I know of s number of people who said they tried EC and st some point hit a stumbling block and gave up (and now their 3-year-old is still in diapers).
That makes me so sad, because they clearly didn't have Andrea's support to hell them through it!
This book isn't just an easy to read and use guide to not be dependent on diapers (for long), it's a philosophy of parenting and a gateway to much more support online; Andreas blog, podcasts, Facebook group, resource list and coaches all over the country.
If you've ever considered infant potty training, this is your guide!
This is the guidance needed to go about ec. When i first heard and started practicing ec i had no idea what i was doing. Thankfully we found this book, go diaper free a simple handbook for elimination communiction, and a lot of my questions were answered and frustrations were let go. the book goes through a step by step plan to diaper liberation and confidance for your child.
i also have the tiny potty training book and that wrapped ec beautifully for us. again, andrea olsen is straight forward and to the point. i highly recommend these books for anybody who is ready to no longer be dependent on diapers, and fast!
Thank goodness I came across this book. It sure simplified my practice. I found it a few days after my daughter was born. Overwhelmed preparing my birth, it was this book that bottom-lined everything for me about EC.
If it wasn't for this book, I might have given up on EC. There is already so much going on as a new Mom. I didn't have time to read the other EC book a friend got for me. I read a few chapters (which there is barely anytime to do anything with a newborn) couldn't finish and still didn't know how to EC. Then I came along this book! It got right down to the nitty gritty. The topics are clear and it is easy to find what you're looking for and follow.
The brilliance and difference is it is basically written in reverse than the others. She gets right to the point with tips, ways to cue your baby, diaper, positions and pictures of how to hold your baby.
The layout is organized and makes sense.
There is a nutshell version of how to do EC.
Age group section which make it easy to just read about your age baby.
You can just enter what your looking for and it goes right to the topic.
There is an EC gear guide so you can get potties, diaper covers, etc. You can hit on link and get what you need. One less think to look up or do!
There are details of ways to discover your LO's cues and timing. Troubleshooting Ideas which were very helpful. Basically everything you'll need. Get it, you'll be glad you did.
Best of all there is a website with other ways to help you understand your baby's needs and be able to feel comfortable and confident with how you approach EC.

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Elimination Communication at all. The way in which Andrea lays out the information makes it simple to read and easy to follow along at home. She gives you information about how to do EC occasionally, part-time, full-time, nighttime, and anywhere in between. It makes it really easy to just jump right in and start, regardless of your child's age or your time availability. It's obvious how passionate Andrea is about spreading the word about EC through her positive enthusiasm and ever-growing scope of resources through blogs, new books, podcasts, coaching programs, Tiny Undies, etc. it feels really wonderful to have so much support when the culture at large (and close to home!) can feel so unsupportive at times. If you're on the fence about diving into EC and/or purchasing this book I would highly suggest going for it! There are no expectations and you won't regret the decrease in diaper changes or the closeness you will experience with your children. (I also highly recommend this book for any childcare providers!! It's a wonderful thing to be able offer to families you work with and helps create a special bond and trust with the children you work with!)
I like the theory behind the book; however, most of it is stated as the own experience and opinions of the author. All babies are different so it would be good if the book had more references to formal research or other people's experiences in EC.
The order of the book, its repetitiveness, and the writing style are too messy/informal. The images (which are suppose to explain methods) didn't download properly with the apple kindle version I bought. This makes it hard to understand/apply. And honestly, the idea of teaching a baby to go out in a park or in the road doesn't make sense to me.
The book is interesting, although it feels like reading a really long blog post.
